Former top PLA officer faces court-martial

A man who was China's top military officer until 2012 is facing court-martial for corruption. Details can be found here thanks to Bloomberg. Excerpt:
A retired top general of the People’s Liberation Army has been formally charged with taking bribes and will face court martial in China’s highest-level military corruption case in more than six decades.
Military prosecutors found Guo Boxiong, 73, who until 2012 was China’s highest-ranking uniformed officer, took advantage of his position to help others secure promotion and accepted bribes directly and through family members, the official Xinhua News Agency said Tuesday. "The amount was enormous, evidence was solid and abundant," prosecutors were quoted as saying by Xinhua. Guo has admitted to wrongdoing, they said.

  1. Reports in Hong Kong's alternative media (unconfirmed) suggest that the PLA Military Court asked the Politburo for instructions on his punishment in November (http://breakgfw.com/201511/1044.html). It is likely leading to the downfall of others linked to General Guo.
